THIS WEEKEND THE JUBILEE FOCUS IS ON FAMILY,
Grandparents and the Elderly, we pray for the strength of our families
and the wisdom of our Grandparents and elderly. We also pray
that we will listen and grow from one another realizing that though
each has a different and unique experience when blended it will
help families sustain during difficult times. Below are words from
the late Pope Francis about the vocations of family, Grandparents
and the elderly.
******
From Pope Francis’ (2022) Homily for the X World Meeting of
Families:
“You are Fathers, mothers and children, Grandparents, uncles and
aunts. You are adults and children, young and old. Each of you
brings a different experience of family, but all of you have one hope
and prayer: that God will bless and keep your families and all the
families of the world.”
******
From Pope Francis” (2021) Message for the First World Day for
Grandparents and the Elderly:
“In Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus tells the Apostles, “Go therefore and
make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe
all that I have commanded you” (28:19-20). These words are
also addressed to us today. They help us better understand that our
vocation is to preserve our roots, to pass on the faith to the young,
and to care for the little ones. Think about it: what is our vocation
today, at our age? To preserve our roots, to pass on the faith to the
young and to care for the little ones”. Never forget this.
Please join in offering a prayer

Today the Jubilee directs our attention to those groups which through their prayers and charitable actions support God’s mission on earth. Many exist within our communities, and we pray that they will continue to support those who are in need. Pope Francis in a previous address commissioned these
groups to do the following:
‘I urge you, then, to cultivate the centrality of Christ, organizing and participating regularly in formative moments, in assiduous partaking of the Sacraments, in an intense life of personal and liturgical prayer. May your ancient liturgical and devotional traditions be inspired by an intense spiritual life, with fervency, and concrete commitment to charity. And do not be afraid of to refresh them in communion with the
journey of the Church, so that they may be a gift that is accessible and comprehensible to all, in the contexts in which you live and work, and a stimulus to approach the faith also for those who are distant.’
Today we pray in thanksgiving for the members of these groups.
