Throughout this 2025 Jubilee year the Pope has designated prayer for certain groups of people who serve the people of God. These groups will be prayed for during the prayer of the faithful
Jubilee Indulgences
During the Jubilee Year plenary indulgences- removing temporal punishment for sin through Christ’s merits- can be obtained. The Vatican has detailed how to obtain these indulgences, Remain sin free, confession within 20 days, reception of Communion, prayer for the Pope’s intentions by recitation of the Our Father and Hail Mary. Each indulgence requires a separate Communion and prayer, ideally on the day of the act of indulgence. Only one plenary indulgence per day, but a second indulgence is possible to apply to souls in purgatory.
Please join in offering prayer to these groups.

FAITH, FELLOWSHIP, AND MAYBE MORE
The Cemetery is seeking area youth from Churches, Scouts, 4-H, schools and service organizations to be an integral part of the G.B.H.S. Saratoga National Cemetery 's 'National Vietnam Veterans Day Memorial Service', Saturday, March 29th. This service commemorates the 50th Anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War.
A general outline of the day’s events includes:
● Following a public Memorial Ceremony held at the Flagpole Assembly Area at 11:00am on Saturday, March 29th, youth will join designated section leaders throughout the cemetery
● Youth will stand at the Veteran's grave, render a salutation (salute or hand over heart), read aloud the Veteran's name and gravestone information, then pause in remembrance of their service. The volunteer may or may not be accompanied by members of that Veteran's family
● Vietnam Veteran graves will be clearly marked and section leaders from SNC will be present in all sections to assist volunteers and family
● Participation graveside is expected to take roughly 2- 3 hours. If there is a section with special meaning to your group, please let us know and we will do our very best to coordinate their stationing with that section.

YEAR OF JUBILEE, in the Roman Catholic Church, a celebration that is observed for one full year every 25
years, during which Catholics may be granted remission of sins (in the form of an indulgence) by the pope under certain conditions, such as completing a pilgrimage. In addition, confessors in the sacrament of reconciliation are given special faculties, including the lifting of censures, such as excommunications. Popes have also declared “extraordinary” Jubilees that fall outside of the 25-year cycle to mark special occasions.
