G. B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery Youth Volunteers
February20,2025
The Cemetery is seeking area youth from Churches, Scouts, 4-H, schools and service organizations to be an integral part of the G.B.H.S. Saratoga National Cemetery 's 'National Vietnam Veterans Day Memorial Service', Saturday, March 29th. This service commemorates the 50th Anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War.
A general outline of the day’s events includes:
● Following a public Memorial Ceremony held at the Flagpole Assembly Area at 11:00am on Saturday, March 29th, youth will join designated section leaders throughout the cemetery
● Youth will stand at the Veteran's grave, render a salutation (salute or hand over heart), read aloud the Veteran's name and gravestone information, then pause in remembrance of their service. The volunteer may or may not be accompanied by members of that Veteran's family
● Vietnam Veteran graves will be clearly marked and section leaders from SNC will be present in all sections to assist volunteers and family
● Participation graveside is expected to take roughly 2- 3 hours. If there is a section with special meaning to your group, please let us know and we will do our very best to coordinate their stationing with that section.
